7th and 8th-grade art is an elective course that will introduce students to various forms of art. The art instruction throughout the middle school years is extremely exciting, no matter how little background a student has, now is the time when they may discover an individual artistic style of their own. The purpose of the 7th grade visual-arts program is to enhance students’ intellectual, personal, and social development. The visual arts provide a rich and engaging curriculum that develops students’ abilities to think, reason, and understand the world and its cultures.7th-grade art introduces students to using various mediums such as oil pastels, colored pencils, and paints while being instructed on color blending, and various drawing techniques. Projects include but are not limited to Pop art portraits, Wayne Thiebaud cake drawing, 3D food sculptures, and various cultural projects. The 8th-grade visual arts provide a rich and engaging curriculum that develops students’ abilities to think, reason, and understand the world and its cultures. The program focuses on areas such as the history of the arts, critical analysis skills, the re-creation of classic, as well as, contemporary works of art, and the expression of students’ ideas and feelings through the creation of their own works.
